THE BROWNGIRL MOVEMENT

We were invited to speak in New York as part of ‘Women’s Herstory Month’ by NJCU to discuss the 'The Brown Girl Movement' - an online, global movement that we are a part of, alongside so many other inspirational brown women. It was a special and memorable moment for us, sharing with an incredible audience how far we've come on our journey together, why we started our blog and why the online community of brown women is so important. Whilst we were out in New York we also connected and collaborated with several artists and organisations, holding smaller community events and were able to develop our ever-growing network of South Asian creatives.

After sharing our presentation with an engaging audience, Venida Rodman (director of the Women's Center at NJCU) sat down with us, sharing some of her thoughts and asked us a few questions! She then opened up the floor and we had an insightful discussion with the audience members who attended.

From cultural appropriation and religion to brown guys and marriage, we covered many topics with the insightful and quirky questions from the audience!
